Thousands of Palestians have fled the Gaza Strip and are heading toward United Nations-run facilities after the Israeli military pummeled the area over the weekend. Israel attacked sites it says militants are using to launch rockets at Israeli cities. Israel warned some residents of the area before the bombardment began against sites and homes of Hamas and Islamic Jihad groups. The death toll in Gaza has risen to 167 after a week of fighting. Tel Aviv and Haifa continue to be hit by counterattacks, and six Israelis have been injured so far. On Monday, the Israeli military announced it had shot down a drone—the first report of such a weapon so far in the campaign.
