Two people are dead after a mysterious explosion Sunday night at or near an important military complex outside Tehran. Witnesses said that a glaring orange flash came from the direction of the Parchin military complex, which has been linked to Iran’s nuclear program. The International Atomic Energy Agency has been denied access to the facility since 2005. Iranian authorities have denied that the explosion took place near Parchin. Officials at Iran’s Defense Industries Organization referred to the explosion as an “ordinary fire” caused by “chemical reactions of flammable material.” It’s no secret that Iran has strong nuclear ambitions. Its latest offers to help fight ISIS have been viewed as a way to get the U.S. to strike a nuclear deal.
