Typhoon Noul slammed the northeast Philippines on Sunday, killing two people and forcing thousands to evacuate the area. The storm is the strongest storm to hit the Philippines this year and is expected to head toward Taiwan and Japan on Tuesday. Two men were electrocuted Sunday while attempting to fix the roof of their house in the town of Aparri. Authorities said they did not expect large casualties because many followed instructions for evacuation ahead of the storm. At least 2,500 people in the province of Cagayan and Isabela reportedly left their homes to find safer grounds.
