TOP 10 RIGHT NOW
The science nerds who memorized the periodic table have two more elements to remember now. An international committee of chemists and physicists recognized the new elements Wednesday, tentatively named 114 and 116, respectively, for the number of protons they have. Permanent names and symbols will be chosen later. Despite the names of these new elements, the number of elements is still 114, because elements 113 and 115 have not officially been recognized yet. These new elements will most likely not affect anyone’s life: They were created by scientists who smashed atoms of other elements together to create the new ones.
