Tennessee police have apprehended a suspect in a Wednesday night shooting that left two people injured, including a sheriff’s deputy. Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford had earlier confirmed one of his deputies and a civilian had been shot near a home and police were in a standoff with the suspect, identified as Kelly Pitts, of Hickory, North Carolina. Lunceford said police responded to a call about an intoxicated man waving a gun. Officials said there was no exchange of words between the man and officers before he fired off 30 to 40 rounds. Deputy Jenna Markland was shot on the left side of her forehead and above her mouth. She was flown to a hospital and was reported to be alert.
