At least five people are dead and dozens more injured after a string of tornadoes and severe storms ripped through the nation’s Tornado Alley, officials said Monday. More than two dozen tornadoes stretched across Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Texas on Sunday. In Van, Texas, where a tornado destroyed homes and toppled power lines, eight people remained missing as of Monday night. The National Weather Service warned of more severe weather this week, including hail and high winds, extending from Texas and the Mississippi Valley to the Carolinas and Virginia.
