Mexican officials said Wednesday that the 72 bodies found at a ranch were migrants trying to reach the U.S. The victims—58 men and 14 women from South and Central America—were found murdered in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas Tuesday, after a suspected shoot-out between drug traffickers and security forces. One survivor of the shoot-out said the migrants had been kidnapped by a gang but had refused to work for it. While officials did not release the names of the victims, they said they had been in contact with various embassies to contact their families.
