The suspect in an attack at the Ohio State University on Monday morning has been identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, according to NBC News and the Associated Press. The siege, in which at least ten victims were injured—one critically—with a knife and a car, occurred around 9:40 a.m. outside a campus building. University police tweeted at about 10 a.m. to “run, hide, fight,” and a campus-wide shelter was lifted 90 minutes later. All classes were canceled for the day for the campus’s 60,000 enrolled students. Earlier in the afternoon, NBC News reporter Pete Williams said that police suspected the attacker was an 20-year-old OSU student who was a Somali refugee and a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
