While campaigning in Georgia, Newt Gingrich criticized President Obama’s plan to increase subsidies on electric cars. He called Chevrolet’s electric Volt “an interesting experiment” and suggested downsizing cars in the U.S. was a bad idea. “You can't put a gun rack in a Volt,” he quipped. A Chevy spokesman responded to Newt’s comments, noting that “fuel efficiency—not the availability of a gun rack—is one of the top purchase considerations for all new vehicles. However, if accessories for the Volt are that important to Mr. Gingrich, we’ll gladly send him a product brochure.” One Volt driver went a step further to prove Gingrich wrong, demonstrating on YouTube that you can, in fact, put a gun rack in the electric car.
