Billionaires Sheldon Adelson and Haim Saban laid out some of the demands they have of their political parties in 2016 during a rare joint appearance Sunday, making it clear they will assert their considerable power during the campaign. Adelson, 81, a staunch Republican, and Saban, 70, a close Democratic ally of Hillary Clinton, agreed that President Obama has not been tough enough in protecting Israel’s interests. Speaking to an audience of several hundred Israeli Americans at the Israeli American Council, the men said they will press both parties for a more hawkish approach to the Middle East. The pair also found common ground in their criticism of Iran. Additionally, Adelson upbraided many in the GOP for their opposition to legalizing millions of undocumented immigrants. Each man is expected to use his fortune to elect his preferred candidate to the White House in 2016.
