Agathe von Trapp, whose family was the inspiration for The Sound of Music, died on Tuesday at the age of 97. She was represented in the film by Liesl, who sang “16 Going on 17.” Von Trapp was apparently upset by the film’s portrayal of her father, Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp, as a strict and unforgiving man and wrote a book, Memories Before and After The Sound of Music, to set the record straight. She is survived by four members of the Trapp Family Singers.
