The pilots of the fatal plane crash in Buffalo were scheduled to land on a runway that at least one airline knew to pose "a potentially significant hazard," CNN reports. Southwest Airlines had issued the warning prior to the crash, advising its pilots that interference from an earthen dam at the end of the runway could cause navigation systems in the cockpit to malfunction. Though it is not confirmed that the interference caused the crash, the likely consequences listed in the warning tragically foreshadow actual events. The advisory says there is "the potential to experience abrupt pitch up, slow airspeed, and approach to stall if conditions present themselves in a certain manner."
