An awful story from Sydney, Australia: Rebecca Doig, a 31-year-old mother, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare early form of Alzheimer’s. Doig cannot remember the birth of her baby daughter last week. Her husband compares her to “an 80-year-old going on 5 years old.” The first symptom’s of Doig’s illness appeared three years ago, when she repeatedly misplaced things. Only about 5 to 10 percent of Alzheimer’s cases are early-onset, and even then the patients are usually in their 50s or 60s.
