We can think of some NFL coaches right now who’d probably like to install this on their teams’ phones: The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved on Tuesday a patent from Apple that will prevent users from sending or receiving “objectionable” texts. According to the patent background, currently “No way to monitor and control text communications to make them user appropriate. For example, users such as children may send or receive messages (intentionally or not) with parentally objectionable language.” The patent could return the text to the sender and ask him or her to remove inappropriate language, or it could just delete the text altogether.
