The archbishop of Port-au-Prince was found among those buried beneath the rubble in the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake Tuesday. Missionaries found Monsignor Joseph Serge Miot’s body among the debris of the archdiocese office, according to Father Pierre Le Beller of the Saint Jacques Missionary Center in western France. Miot, who was 63, was a member of the order of missionary priests that the bishop of Gonaives, Haiti founded in 1951. Haiti estimates the death toll from the 7.0 quake to be in the thousands.
