They were already given the Hollywood treatment with a laughable Lifetime movie, but the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may be headed to California themselves this summer, Andrew Morton reports Monday. On his blog, the bestselling biographer says aides have scheduled William and Kate for a two-day trip to Hollywood at the end of their tour of Canada in late June and early July. The visit would mark their first overseas appearance as a married couple. According to Morton, the potential trip would be a turning point for the newly minted duchess—William’s mother, Princess Diana’s first overseas visit was to Australia in 1983, two years after her fairytale wedding to Prince Charles. Morton recalls the late princess’ early appearances were full of nerves, but she returned to the U.K. as a press pro.
