Prince Harry took his charm offensive to Brazil yesterday, where he was greeted by a carnival band, samba dancers and crowds chanting his name as he began a £25 million British marketing campaign, called, “GREAT”, to capitalise on the Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Harry maintained the informal tone of the Caribbean as he opened a party on the mountain attended by British representatives including Lily Cole, the model, and Marcus Wareing, the chef, and Brazilians including Daniella Helayel, founder of Issa—one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favorite fashion labels—who staged a fashion show.
He said in a speech: “Everything about Rio makes you want to dance. I’m just so thankful that my brother isn’t here because he might actually do it—and that would not be cool.”
Harry passed on alcoholic drinks, and was up early for a game of beach volleyball on Rio’s Flemengo Beach.
