The Pew Research Center released a new study, which shows that, for the first time, a majority of Americans support the legalization of marijuana.
Researchers broke down this figure by generation. While it may not be surprising that a vast majority of millennials favor legalization, it should be noted that the Baby Boomers have made a major shift in opinion. More are in favor of legalization today than were in 1970.
Another interesting finding is that there has been a huge shift in opinion regarding marijuana as a moral issue. The startling part is that this shift happened in only 7 years.
While legalization only has about half of the country's support, there is a large consensus that enforcement of marijuana laws are a waste of government resources. This is seen accross party lines.
