The French National Assembly reconvened Tuesday, the first time since last week’s attacks in Paris that left 17 people dead, not including the three terrorists who committed the crimes. Before starting the session, they held a moment of silence for the victims, but the silence was broken not by a call to order or a speech from French Prime Minister, but by one of the members starting a chorus of ‘La marseillaise,’ the French National Anthem.
This moving rendition was the first time the anthem was sung on the National Assembly floor since November 11, 1918, the day World War I ended.
