Big-time rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off in international soccer’s biggest match of the year: El Clasico.
This year’s game will take place on Saturday, December 3, at 10:15 am EST at the Nou Camp, Barcelona.
Unexpectedly, the two teams sit at the top of La Liga Santander (also known as the Primera División or simply, ‘La Liga’), with Real Madrid in the number one seat, with 33 points, and Barcelona in the number two seat with 27 points.
Real Madrid remains unbeaten in all their competitions managed by Zinedine Zidane this season, while Barcelona has already fallen twice in league competition– once to Deportivo Alavés again to Celta de Vigo– and will be working to make up their point difference in the Clasico.
Whether you call it football, fútbol, or soccer, Saturday’s match will be a chance to join millions of others in watching some of the world’s greatest players. The head to head matchup between the two adversaries has more viewers than the Super Bowl and features two of the three most valuable sports teams in the world.
FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF also boast two of the most popular players in international soccer—Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.
Ronaldo, who plays for Real Madrid, has nearly 250 million followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram combined, and Neymar, who plays for Barcelona, has close to 148 million social media followers.
The legendary Lionel Messi will also be taking to the pitch along with Ronaldo and Neymar, creating even more hype for Saturday’s game.
