CHEAT SHEET
TOP 10 RIGHT NOW
Things aren't looking good for prosecutors involved in one of the largest school-cheating cases in U.S. history. A 2011 report found that cheating on standardized tests was rampant in Atlanta schools, with accusations even describing teachers erasing incorrect answers. The first trial in the massive case ended on Friday, when a jury handed down a not-guilty verdict in the trial of a former school administrator charged with influencing a witness. Tamara Cotman, who oversaw 21 schools in the area, was accused of intimidating staff to keep them from cooperating with officials investigating the cheating scandal. Cotman and 34 other area educators will stand trial sometime next year for racketeering.
