Twenty-six brush fires raging across 770 square miles of Australia have killed at least 84 and destroyed more than 700 homes in the state of Victoria. Areas north of Melbourne have been hit hardest, including the township of Marysville, which, one witness laments, "has just about been wiped out." Victoria Premier John Brumby is calling for blood donations and is warning that "these fires won't be out for some days…It's about as horrific as it could get."
