Arizona Governor Jan Brewer refuses to let her state's controversial immigration bill go away. Four days after she signed a law that would allow the state's own legislators to participate in efforts to defend SB1070 against court challenges, she announced a suit against the federal government for its failure to secure the border and deter illegal immigration. Arizona's immigration law is currently in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, but its most controversial provisions—including a requirement that law enforcement question peoples' immigration status if they suspect they're in the country illegally—were put on hold shortly before they were to take effect by U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton.
