Julien Hug, the 35-year-old former contestant on ABC’s The Bachelorette who was found dead in California this week, took his own life, his father revealed on Friday. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of death, but Hug’s father, Bertrand, says his son shot himself. Julien was “depressed and struggling,” his father said. “He couldn’t find his way.” Hug appeared on the fifth season of The Bachelorette, competing to win the heart of Jillian Harris, but was eliminated on the second episode. He was also a sky-diving enthusiast, and donated his time to charitable organizations such as Kids Korps USA and Children's Hospital. Hug left letters to his family and friends before committing suicide, his father said.
