All of Bangladesh was plunged into darkness Saturday when a transmission line bringing power into the country from India failed. Officials said it would take more than 12 hours to repair the system. State-run Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd. restarted some power plants and restored electricity to some parts of the country, but had to be shut down again after a few hours because the plants were not operating normally.
