The Florida Marlins have reportedly offered a contract to Barry Bonds for a hitting coach job with the team. The all-time MLB career home run leader retired as a player in 2007, and was beset by legal troubles surrounding his involvement with illegal performance-enhancing drugs. Because of his PED use, Bonds has effectively been denied entry into the Hall of Fame. The job would be Bonds' first full-time position in the league (in March 2013 and 2014, he served as a spring training hitting instructor for the San Francisco Giants). Fellow PED-scandalized slugger Mark McGwire famously made his return to the MLB in 2010 as a hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals.
