J.H. Williams and W. Haden Blackman, co-authors of DC Comics’ Batwoman, are leaving the title after the upcoming issue, claiming that DC prohibited a marriage storyline between Kate (Batwoman) and her girlfriend, Maggie Sawyer. Williams later clarified via Twitter, however, that the move on DC Comics’ part seemed more anti-marriage than anti-gay marriage (several married DC superhero couples have been broken up recently, including Superman and Lois Lane). A DC spokesperson confirmed this, telling Comics Alliance, “As acknowledged by the creators involved, the editorial differences with the writers of Batwoman had nothing to do with the sexual orientation of the character.”
