After a gray whale beached itself and eventually died in West Seattle last week, biologists discovered an unusual variety of garbage in its stomach—sweatpants, a golf ball, surgical gloves, 20 plastic bags, small towels, and duct tape were among biologists’ findings. The 37-foot-long whale’s tummy mostly contained algae, its typical meal, but the amount of human garbage was unsettling.
