Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden, announced Thursday that he will not seek a third term as attorney general of Delaware this November, and instead will run for governor in 2016. Biden was hospitalized last August at a Texas cancer center to remove a “small lesion” from his brain, and since then has made few public appearances. He also suffered a “mild stroke” in 2010 that kept him away from office for several weeks. “As your attorney general, I have done my best to remain true to the core values I believe define public service—honesty, integrity, and doing right by the people I serve," he said in a written statement, before announcing his plans to run for governor. Biden did not hold a press conference or give interviews about his decision.
