Belgium evacuated 240 Syrians, largely Christians and Yazidis, in a secret mission carried out two months ago. The families were in Aleppo, the site of fighting between Syrian government forces and various rebel groups. Civil society groups first took the families to Lebanon before being shuttled to Brussels. Many of the families already had relatives in Belgium, and the BBC reports that the families are expected to get asylum in the country.
