Night owls who happened to look to the skies early Saturday were treated to a bigger, brighter moon than usual. The astronomical phenomenon known as “supermoon,” when the moon appears extra large because of its proximity to Earth, will peak on Saturday and then carry through the weekend. According to NASA, early Saturday the moon appeared 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter.
