Bill Simmons will host a weekly show on HBO next year after ESPN refused to re-sign his contract in May. HBO has signed Simmons to a “major exclusive multi-year, multi-platform agreement” that is centered on a talk show and will include documentaries and video podcasts. HBO’s press release does not say anything about a Web property, like Grantland, which Simmons started several years ago under ESPN.
