The second-highest ranking Episcopal leader in Maryland, Bishop Heather Cook, has been charged with drunk driving and manslaughter after she fatally struck a cyclist in late December. Cook, 58, turned herself in to authorities on Friday; her bail has been set at $2.5 million. Prosecutors say Cook left the scene of the crash for 30 minutes and registered a blood alcohol content level of .22. The cyclist, 41-year-old Tom Palermo, died of a head injury at a hospital later that day.
