With Gordon Brown’s campaign taking on water, former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair came out in vocal support of his former Chancellor of the Exchequer, saying that a vote for rival Liberal Democrat Nick Clegg was “not a serious thing.” Further dismissing the Lib Dems, who have been Britain’s third party in recent years, Blair added, “The fact that it might seem an interesting thing to do is not the right reason to put the keys of the country in their hands.” But Clegg seemed unfazed, accusing Labour of “wheeling out the golden oldies to try to help out Gordon Brown in his hour of need.” Tory leader David Cameron, meanwhile, is building momentum from his performance in the television debate ahead of Thursday’s vote.
