An area in Myanmar on the Bangladeshi border was rocked by two explosions Monday as thousands of Muslim Rohingya continue to flee violence in the area, Reuters reports. Bangladeshi authorities said one woman lost a leg in the explosions, which occurred about 50 meters inside Myanmar. Reuters reporters at the scene said they heard gunshots and saw fire just before the blasts, which Bangladeshi authorities believe were caused by a landmine in the area. The incident comes as Myanmar faces growing criticism from world leaders for a violent campaign by its security forces against the minority Rohingya community. Nearly 90,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh since fighting erupted last week in Rakhine State following an attack by Rohingya insurgents on several police posts. Critics say Myanmar security forces responded by indiscriminately slaughtering Rohingya civilians and burning down thousands of homes. At least 400 people have since been killed, and dozens of bodies of Rohingya refugees have reportedly washed up on Bangladeshi shores, many with knife or bullet wounds. Another 30,000 Rohingya are reportedly trapped in a mountainous area near the border with no food or water.
