Airlines cancelled hundreds of flights Sunday with major blizzard warning in effect for the U.S. East Coast Sunday and Monday. Continental Airlines cancelled 250 flights out of Newark Liberty International Airport in N.J. United Airlines cancelled dozens of flights out of Newark, New York's LaGuardia and JFK, Boston and Philadelphia. AirTran and Southwest Airlines also cancelled flights, mostly out of Washington Dulles, Baltimore and Newark. The National Weather Service warns of more than a foot of incoming snow and blinding winds up to 30 miles per hour in the New York metro area. Similar alarms have been rung for Rhode Island, and parts of Massachusetts and Connecticut, which are also at risk of power outages. Saturday night, the Midwest was blanketed in snow on Christmas Eve, and parts of the Southeast saw their first Christmas flurries in decades.
