An improvised explosive device detonated near the NAACP chapter in Colorado Springs on Tuesday was deliberate, the FBI said. Authorities are seeking a balding white male, about age 40, who “may be driving a 2000 or older model dirty, white pickup truck with paneling, a dark colored bed liner, open tailgate, and a missing or covered license plate,” the FBI said in a statement. The blast happened near a barbershop next to the NAACP just before 11 a.m. The neighborhood suffered minor damage but no injuries occurred. It is unclear whether the explosive was directed toward the civil-rights organization. A gasoline canister was placed next to the bomb but did not ignite, according to an FBI spokeswoman.
