12-year-old Roman Martinez of Upland, Calif. was killed Friday while riding the brand-new scooter he got for Christmas. Martinez, who was wearing a helmet, drove the electric scooter down his driveway into an incoming vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, according to KTLA. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old woman hit the brakes but could not avoid the collision; she has not been charged with the crash.
