Theresa May Gov’t OKs Deal With Ultra-Conservative DUP

British Prime Minister Theresa May has secured a deal with an ultra-conservative Northern Irish political party, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which will enable the embattled Conservative leader to cling to power after a disastrous general election two weeks ago. May first announced a deal with the DUP on the steps of Downing Street the morning after the election, but it has taken longer than expected to get the deal, which will see the DUP support the Tories in crucial votes without entering a formal alliance—signed off.
