British actor Pete Postlethwaite, described by Steven Spielberg as "probably the best actor in the world," has died at the age of 64, after fighting cancer for many years. The star was nominated for an Academy Award in 1993 for his performance in In the Name of the Father, worked with Spielberg on The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and was seen most recently in Christopher Nolan's much-hyped Inception. Known as a political activist, Postlethwaite opposed the war in Iraq and worked to raise awareness of global warming. He is survived by his wife Jacqui, and his son and daughter.
