Britney to Remain Under Father’s Control

He doesn’t seem to have control over who she dates, but Britney Spears’s father, Jamie Spears, will retain control over the pop star’s personal and financial affairs, according to a Los Angeles judge. A conservatorship was imposed on the 28-year-old singer following her psychiatric treatment in 2008, and it will stay in place, confirmed Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz, who met privately with Spears. Judge Goetz also added she had “a very nice conversation” with the pop star during their meeting, but would not elaborate further. In the past, lawyers for Spears have attempted to overturn the ruling, but the courts have agreed that Spears remained “susceptible to undue influence,” and upheld the conservatorship. In this case, the conservatorship was mainly upheld due to Spears’s complex financial situation.
