Brittany Maynard, the face of a new “death with dignity” movement, now says she may not die on Nov. 1, the date on which she had previously said she planned to end her life. Maynard, who has terminal brain cancer, announced in a video Wednesday night that, “If Nov. 2 has come along and I’ve passed, I hope my family is still proud of me and the choices I made. And if Nov. 2 comes along and I’m still alive, I know that we’ll just still be moving forward as a family out of love for each other, and that the decision will come later.” Maynard lives in Oregon, where assisted suicide is legal. She also said she hopes her husband will become a father and not “live out the rest of his life just missing his wife.”
