A California town of about 10,000 people has authorized giving its 20 police officers nunchucks in an effort to limit injuries to police officers and the people they’re arresting. “It gives us the ability to control a suspect instead of striking them,” an official said. Training manuals for the tools show police using them to subdue suspects—even though Bruce Lee martial-arts flicks popularized them as weapons.
