British Prime Minister David Cameron has flown to Kabul to become the first world leader to meet the newly inaugurated Afghanistan government now led by President Ashraf Ghani. It is Cameron's last visit to the country before British troops leave, ending an engagement that has lasted since 2001, brought 453 U.K. deaths and has often been criticized as a strategic failure. It is Cameron's eight trip as prime minister and the brief visit is the start of a delicate process whereby he will have to argue that the mission was worthwhile and British troops are leaving with dignity.
