Recent polls suggesting Tory candidate David Cameron is leading the British Prime Minister polls have led current Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his Liberal Democrat rival Nick Clegg into a campaigning frenzy. An ICM poll puts Conservatives at 36 percent vs. 29 percent for Labour and 27 percent for the Liberal Democrats. Clegg and Brown are both on the attack, urging voters to protect Britain from a conservative future. Eleven of the 18 major papers, however, are supporting the Tories for next week’s election. Already fading behind a surge by Clegg last month, Brown faces further difficulties after his infamous "bigoted" gaffe, in which he criticized a constituent on an open mic.
