Canada said Tuesday it would not meet a deadline to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees by the year's end and instead only take in 10,000. The federal government, however, said it would still welcome another 15,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February. Refugees who will be considered include families, women at risk and gay men and women. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Minister John McCallum said the temporary slow down was not due to seurity concerns in the wake of the Paris attacks, but because of logistical issues. The refugees will be both privately sponsored and government-assisted and registered with the UN Refugee Agency or with Turkey's government.
