A suicide car bombing shook Afghanistan’s Jalalabad airport Monday, killing at least nine and injuring several others. The car exploded near the airport’s gate, in what the Afghan Taliban claims is a “revenge” attack for the Quran burnings at a U.S. base that sparked protests last week that killed 30. The airport serves both international military and civilian aircraft. There were four other destroyed cars near the gates. NATO troops have closed off the area. Earlier, protesters threw grenades at a U.S. base in Afghanistan, leading to a fight that killed two Afghans and injured seven NATO officers.
