New York Times fashion editor Cathy Hoyrn had much to admire about the Dior haute couture fashion show – strong jackets, “superb” cocktail dresses (she particularly gushes about a draped leopard print), and colors from poppy to pale pink to fuchsia. But to the big skirts at the end, including a beige silk corset with layers of tulle, she says, “longer lengths now seem as annoying as Rapunzel’s hair. Oh, just chop it off.” Also not to her taste? The venue: Set in a house, the intimate space did not lend itself to true intimacy (few people went backstage) and “made the photographers…seem a surplus.”
