Democratic Rep. Chaka Fattah submitted his resignation Thursday, effectively immediately. The 59-year-old congressman was convicted Wednesday on all corruption charges—bribery, racketeering, money laundering, bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, and filing false statements. Fattah initially offered his resignation for October, but after pleas from Democratic leadership he agreed to step down.
