A San Diego judge dropped conspiracy charges against rapper Brandon Duncan, also known as Tiny Doo, and a second man in connection to nine gang shootings between 2013 and last year, officials said Monday. Prosecutors charged Duncan, 33, with promoting crimes through his lyrics and benefiting from shootings linked to a San Diego gang, but a Superior Court judge ruled there was not enough evidence to bring Duncan or Aaron Harvey in on conspiracy charges. Although there was no evidence linking Duncan to the shootings, he was charged under a law that enables authorities to charge active gang members for crimes committed by other members. However, prosecutors are required to prove that defendants benefited from the gang crime for a conviction.
